My 26 plus years as a nurse also includes working with the military, elderly, and young adults of various social-economic/cultural backgrounds. My experience includes teaching groups and individuals on developing their identities and understanding how to love themselves by learning behaviors to maintain a healthy well-being. I’m a licensed Registered Nurse with a master’s degree as a Nurse Educator with certification and experience in rehabilitation and sexual health. I specialize in educating individuals who are moving from recovery to rehabilitation.
In such recovery situations, teaching you to learn to self-catheterize, bowel training, colostomy care, navigating through resources for traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury recovery and rehabilitation, and strategies for sexual health and relationship building. This may involve me teaching you how to independently be able to take care of your needs. I also provide tips to help the caregiver reduce stress. Confidence is a gratifying force of empowerment a person feels when being able to independently manage their self-care or a caregiver able to manage the care for a love one.
I always provide an open ear to discuss ethical dilemmas or any matters to relieve the burden of trying to figure out how to live your lives with some healthy- normalcy after a life-altering injury or illness. I am here for you. We will work together to develop a plan to address any nervousness, fear, or uncertainty about your circumstance. So, be prepared to write down a plan that we will build on each time we meet. I am conveniently available via telehealth.
